This year has been a very special holiday season for me because it is the first Christmas that I spent with my new husband of almost three months. We have had so much fun together this season. It sure is fun to have someone to share such a special time of the year. We have been singing a lot of karaoke and also visiting with family and friends. We are looking forward to the new year and all it may have to offer.
My blog focuses on the little things that happen in the life of Grandma and Grandpa as we watch the grand kids grow and mature. Hope you all enjoy all the little happenings in our life.

Christmas Party With The Grand Kids
Last weekend George and I had a wonderful time with our grand kids on my side of the family. My son and his wife hosted the event and there was such a great selection of food and all kinds of Christmas goodies for all to enjoy. This is my first year with my new husband and it is so much fun not just being a single grandmother but having a grandpa along as well. The kids all seem to love him so much and he seems to love them all as well. We exchanged presents with them and had such a great time watching them tear open all the packages with excitement and glee on their little faces. My new grandpa husband has made me realize how special grandchildren really are. I have some wonderful pictures for all of you to enjoy. Needless to say we had a great day and am looking forward to many more.

How Santa Claus Got Started

In Santa Claus's own town, Patara, lived a great lord who had three daughters. He was very poor, so poor that one day he was on the point of sending his daughters out to beg for food from his neighbors. But it happened that Saint Nicholas not long before had come into a fortune, and as he loved giving to those in need, he no sooner heard of the trouble the poor lord was in than he made up his mind to help him secretly. So he went to the nobleman's house at night, and as the moon shone out from behind a cloud, he saw an open window into which he threw a bag of gold, and with this timely gift the father was able to provide for his eldest daughter so that she could be married. On another night Santa Claus set off with another bag of gold, and threw it in at the window, so the second daughter was provided for. But by this time, the father had grown eager to discover who the mysterious visitor could be, and next night he kept on the lookout. Then for the third time Santa Claus came with a bag of gold upon his back and itched it in at the window. The old lord at once recognized his fellow townsman, and falling on his knees, cried out "Oh! Nicholas, servant of God, why seek to hide yourself?"
Is it not wonderful to think that this was so long ago, sixteen hundred years, yet we still look for the secret coming of Santa Claus with his Christmas gifts? At first he was said to come on his own birthday, which is early in December, but after awhile, as was very natural with Christmas so near, the night of his coming was moved on in the calendar, and now we hang up our stockings to receive his gifts on Christmas Eve. In some countries children still put their shoes by the fireside on his birthday. In others they say it is the Christ-Kindlein or Christ Child who brings the gifts at Christmastime. But it is always a surprise visit, and though it has happened so many hundreds or times, the hanging up of the Christmas stocking is still as great a delight as ever.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile but my life has been very hectic since I have been a new bride at the ripe old age of 60 for a month and a half. My dear husband had an unfortunate accident and fell and broke his left arm which required immediate surgery. I'm glad to say that after a week in the hospital and much pain that he is coming along very nicely. Still has pain but it seems to be getting better each day.
We are looking forward to turkey day tomorrow because we will be spending it with family and friends. Also since I have last posted there has been a new addition to our family. I'm proud to say that we have a new little grandson in the family. He was born last month. All in all in spite of all the misfortune we have had I think that George and I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. I wish all who read this a very Happy Thanksgiving Day.

Happy Birthday to Malia

It's hard to believe that Malia is 6yrs old now and in first grade and playing soccer. The time just seems to be flying by these days. Yesterday we went to a birthday party for her at a little water park and all the kids had a great time. It was fun to watch them play and splash around in the water fountains. Here are some cute pictures that I took of Malia and some of her friends and also one of her little sister Vivi.
